Biography
Jelie is a multi‑talented rapper, producer, and engineer at the fulcrum of an evolving hip hop scene. Pronounced “Jel‑eye,” she is a uniquely wired artist who breaks rules, bends genres, and pushes the boundaries of perception with layered lyricism and meticulous production.
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Jelie blends technical training with unfiltered emotion. She grew up freestyling over instrumentals and rapping in video games, then earned a Bachelor of Science in Recording Arts, making music her primary vehicle for authentic self‑expression. Her lyrics pull directly from lived experience, turning personal stories into songs that resonate with people from many different backgrounds.
Sonically, Jelie threads experimental textures, hard drums, and intricate wordplay, often shifting between contrasting flows while keeping everything emotionally grounded. She cites Missy Elliott, Lil Wayne, and Tupac as key influences, alongside her autistic brother and sister, who are central to her motivation and heart. The result is music that makes listeners think and feel at the same time.
Jelie’s work extends beyond the studio and stage. She has hosted a TED Talk to help artists and youth grow in business, performed at SXSW, and released the EPs “Microcassette Vol. 1” and “Microcassette Vol. 2,” along with singles such as “Teach Me” (2024) and “Legendary” (2024). Her upcoming single “2 Cool” arrives with a video and shows a softer, more vulnerable side of her artistry, guiding listeners through shifting emotions and offering a brief escape from everyday life.
At her core, Jelie is driven by a desire to empower. She has a deep‑rooted passion for working with people often labeled “disadvantaged,” including the elderly, youth, and disabled communities, and she channels that same energy into her music. With sharp bars, an emotive delivery, and a modern hip hop presence that feels both grounded and forward‑looking, Jelie is carving out her own lane and leaving a lasting mark wherever her music travels.
